Gillingham will head to Cheltenham on Saturday without four key players as they’ve all racked up suspensions.
With an injury crisis already plaguing the club, the last thing manager Andy Hessenthaler really needed was to have four players suspended.
Joe Martin will serve the last game of a three match suspension at the weekend, whilst midfielder Danny Spiller will sit out the next three games after being sent off on Saturday against Crewe.
Meanwhile, Charlie Lee picked up his fifteenth booking of the season at the weekend and will now miss the next three games and Lewis Montrose will miss the next two games after reaching ten bookings for the season.
Add to that both Jack Payne and Ollie Lee picked up knocks at the weekend and Hessenthaler is already facing a nightmare for the trip to Cheltenham:
“It’s scratching your head time with all the injuries we’ve got, and then you lose three players through susppension.”
“We can’t afford to keep losing all these players due to the injuries and illness we have around the club.” he told the club’s official website.
The good news is that both Andy Frampton and Matt Fish could both come back into contention for the weekend, whilst striker Jo Kuffour could make a return to the sixteen man squad.
